Leather Hats – The Hottest Thing to Wear Next Fall |

Leather hats have been around for ages, in fact, since man started using animal skins to stay warm. But at some point in history, leather hats became something more than simply an added means to stay warm or protect our heads from the elements. We now have the chance to get the best of both worlds: stay toasty warm AND make a fashion statement.
Women and men's leather hats come in lots of styles and sizes, and are made from a variety of leather products and furs. In recent years, however, shearling hats have gained quite a bit of attention, for both their incredible beauty and craftsmanship, but also durability and warmth. From simple rounded shearling hats to Spanish full Toscanas for women, or Russian shearling hats to B52 Bombers for men, any style or color is guaranteed to make heads turn (and wish they were wearing them!)
The women's Spanish full Toscana in particular is a stunning item. Toscana fur is longer than other types of shearling and one of the softest. It may be worn down to cover the ears or folded up and tied with leather strings. Men, on the other hand, may prefer the classic Russian rounded hat, which usually comes with a rugged water resistant finish any outdoorsy guy will appreciate. Now, for a true fashion statement, both men and women may choose the B-52 Bomber shearling hat. Among leather hats, shearling hats have their own particularities. These hats are made of sheepkin obtained from young lambs, and the pelts have the wool still on the hide. So, shearling hats have the tanned hide on the outside, but the warm, furry wool on the inside. Hats may also come with visors, or shearling or Toscana trim for added warmth.
When to Wear Them
Most people are unaware of the fact that by wearing leather hats you can retain body heat and keep yourself significantly warmer. They are the obvious choice in winter, particularly in very cold climates, but those with milder winters or cool autumns or springs may also choose to complete an outfit with a shearling hat. Leather hats may be worn in any outdoor event or activity, though they may not be the best choice for formal events like weddings or official dinners.
